A sinkhole swallowed and destroyed two homes in a Florida suburb on July 14, 2017. No one was hurt, but nearby homes had to be evacuated. Heavy rains and activities that suddenly drain water from the ground can lead to sinkholes, which are difficult to prevent or predict.
